Apple is developing new energy-efficient chips for its much-anticipated smart glasses. Inspired by the lightweight performance of Apple Watch silicon, these chips are engineered to support multiple cameras while keeping power use to a minimum—crucial for a small, stylish wearable.
The upcoming smart glasses will reportedly launch in two versions: one with augmented reality (AR) features and another with a standard display. With chip production expected to ramp up in late 2026 or early 2027, Apple’s futuristic eyewear could hit the market soon after.
But Apple isn’t stopping at glasses. The company is also advancing its next-gen Mac chips, likely branded M6 and M7, which promise more power and better efficiency across the Mac lineup.
In parallel, Apple is quietly building out its AI infrastructure. A powerful AI server chip—codenamed “Baltra”—is in the works, set to supercharge new features like AI-powered email editing, notification summarization, and large language model integration. This move highlights Apple’s deepening commitment to a smarter, more personalized user experience.

Apple’s in-house chip design isn’t just about performance—it’s about control. By building custom silicon, Apple reduces its reliance on third parties, accelerates innovation, and tightly integrates hardware and software for a smoother user experience.
This strategy also helps Apple stay ahead in a competitive tech race, particularly as it moves into new territories like wearables and AI services.
From smart glasses to server-grade AI chips, Apple’s investment in custom silicon signals a bold, calculated vision for the future. With each new chip, Apple isn’t just upgrading products—it’s shaping the next era of consumer technology.
